California Cricket: Farokh Engineer NCCA 6-A-Side tournament lanched

Continuing on the success of the recently concluded Matrix NCCA-T20 2012 event, Northern California Cricket Association announced today of their plans to host a 6-A-Side Cricket Tournament for Charity. Former Indian Test Cricketer Farokh Engineer has joined hands with NCCA to drive this noble cause, the proceeds of which shall go to the charitable causes spearheaded by Mr. Farokh Engineer.

The tournament will be held on 21st of October 2012 at Northgate Park, Fremont, California and will be telecast live.  NCCA plans to have 12 teams participate in this event. All proceeds of this tournament shall go to the charity.

A special auction towards charity will also be held. Items being auctioned include a pair of boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali, a soccer ball signed by Pele, cricket jerseys signed by SachinTendulkar, M.S Dhoni and Rahul Dravid.   Apparel signed by Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan.

Confirming his participation Farokh Enginner, who is a Match Referee for IPL and also the vice president of Lancashire Cricket, wrote via email that he is looking forward to it with great excitement both from a cricketing and charity perspective.

Speaking about the event, Sunil Kumar, President of NCCA said:  “We are truly delighted to have Mr. Engineer’sconfirmation. It is NCCA’s greatest privilege to have an icon like him join us in holding this event. I am sure the players in NCCA and every cricket fan in the Bay Area are keen to meet Mr. Engineer during this event”.
