The Florida Cricket Academy will be hosting its fourth annual FCA Youth Cricket Tournament at Miramar Regional Park in Miramar, Florida from January 18-20. The event will feature four teams: FCA U-19, Cricket Academy USA U-19 based out of Atlanta, Midwest Cricket Academy U-19 and Combermere High School U-19 from Barbados.

Over the past several years, the tournament has featured several players who have represented USA at junior or senior national level including Andy Mohammed, Trevor Singh, Prashanth Nair, Amarnauth Persaud, Trevis Ross, Gordon Makin and Steven Taylor.

The tournament has been especially fruitful for Taylor. The 19-year-old has scored at least one century in the first three editions of the 40-over event. In the inaugural tournament, Taylor scored 122 against an U-23 side. His most dominant performance came in 2011 when he scored back-to-back double centuries against CCUSA and the Michigan Cricket Academy.

Last year, he just missed crossing 200 when he notched 189 off 100 balls against Midwest Cricket Academy. Taylor was named Tournament MVP after contributing with the ball as well, including a five-wicket haul earlier in the tournament against CCUSA.

Since its inception, the tournament has also been noteworthy for its recruitment of sponsors. This year’s event is no different with SeaFreight Agencies, Laparkan and the City of Miramar giving their support to the event. All matches in the round-robin 40-over tournament start at 10 a.m.
