The 140 year old Staten Island Cricket Club is hosting its Annual Youth Cricket Festival from August 29th to 31st, 2012.  This year's tournament is expected to feature four Under-18 teams.

Radhakrishna Mohan, Youth Coordinator of the Staten Island Cricket Club, welcomed supporters of youth cricket to come and watch the contests between bat and ball at the historic Walker Park cricket field in Staten Island.

This year's Staten Island Youth Cricket Festival will honor Late SG Deenan.  Deenan, who passed away recently, is an Indian first class cricketer who played for Madras and Andhra.  Deenan also played alongside CK Nayudu against a visiting European XI and was part of the Indian squad led by Vijay Merchant which played against an England XI in 1938.

Deenan had the unique distinction of playing in the War Fund Matches in London where he represented the British Empire XI against the England XI.
