The Indiana Youth Cricket Association, which established 'Basics of Cricket' and 'Introduction to Cricket' certifications in 2011 for Indiana Physical Education teachers, announced the launch of a statewide 'Cricket Study Guide', to help teachers follow a statewide cricket curriculum.

The 'Cricket Study Guide' sets standards and helps educate PE teachers by providing the necessary information required to play the game.  Jatin Patel, President IYCA and 2nd Vice President of USYCA, has been hard at work to promote cricket in schools and communities in Indiana.

Jatin Patel was helped in this pioneering effort by several authors and contributors, all of whom are not only teachers but also Indiana Certified Cricket Coaches.

Matt Shirk, a physical education teacher at Gambold Preparatory Magnet High School in the Indianapolis Public School system, was one of the contributors. Shirk, who is also the first home grown Advanced Cricket Coach, had this to say about the game's progress in Indianapolis schools: "I thought cricket was a very complicated game, but once you break cricket down to its basics, it is fairly easy to grasp the game’s concepts and skills. After only a couple of clinics, any teacher could incorporate cricket into their curriculum."

“The students love the sport. As Cricket involves throwing, catching, and striking skills that all students can learn no matter their ability levels. None of my students have played cricket before so everyone was on an equal playing field and that kept everyone motivated to work hard and learn this awesome sport.”

Indiana teachers are now working on finalizing game rules for Indiana Inter-school T10 cricket. IYCA plan to host inaugural Indiana Inter-school T10 Cricket tournaments with an official state championship during the 2015 spring/summer season.
