USA Cricket: Florida Cricket Academy appoints Reginald Benjamin as Head Coach

The Florida Cricket Academy (FCA) announced on October 1, 2013 that it had appointed Reginald Benjamin as its head coach. The organization, which is based in Miramar, Florida, has been promoting cricket among Florida youth since 2007.

The Florida Cricket Academy (FCA) announced on October 1, 2013 that it had appointed Reginald "Benjie" Benjamin as its head coach. 

The organization, which is based in Miramar, Florida, has been promoting cricket among Florida youth since 2007.  FCA's alumni include Steven Taylor, former captain of USA U-19 team and the first USA batsman to score a T20 century. 

Coach Reginald Benjamin is an ECB Level 3 coach whose ECB Elite Level is pending.  He is presently the Head Coach of the Bahamas National Cricket Program.  Benjamin's resume includes playing for Antigua and playing for Northampton and Glamorgan.

Benjamin was head coach of the USA Under-19 team in 2003 and assistant coach of the USA U-19 team in 2010.  Benjamin represented USA in three ICC Trophy events in 1990, 1994 and 1997.  

"Reginald brings a new dimension to the development structure of the FCA and we are very pleased to have him join us," FCA President Wayne Ramnarine noted in FCA's media release announcing his appointment.

FCA is conducting its 5th annual U-19 Tournament between January 17th and 19th, 2014 and Benjmin's appointment by FCA is timely.  Benjamin will prepare the team at FCA's Ansin Park and Miramar Regional Park facilities.   For more information, please visit FCA at flcad.org.
