USA ended their campaign at the World T20 Qualifier finishing fifteenth among the sixteen participating countries.  USA lost five matches in the tournament - the losses were book-ended by two wins, one against Canada at the start and the second against Denmark at the end.  Denmark, which lost every match it played, finish last.

In today's match for the 15th place, Steven Taylor (36), Akeem Dodson (41) and Danial Ahmed (5 for 18) saved their team the blushes and helped USA secure a 15th place finish by defeating Denmark by 21 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.   A 79-run opening stand between Steven Taylor and Akeem Dodson saw the USA post a total of 145 for the loss of seven wickets.

Denmark’s Hamid Shah claimed the last three wickets of the innings to reduce the required run rate for his side, which was searching for its first victory of the tournament.

In reply, Denmark opener Carsten Pedersen (42 not out) again starred with the bat, and, alongside Frederik Klokker (40) put on a 62-run second wicket stand. However, Klokker became the first victim of Danial Ahmed, and after his wicket fell in the 12th over, Denmark lost seven wickets for 38 runs to finish at 124 for nine from its 20 overs.

Danial Ahmed (pictured right) cleaned up the middle order as part of his five-wicket haul while Imran Awan took 2 wickets and ran out a third in the penultimate over to put finishing touches.

In USA's last match in the group stage which was played on Sunday against UAE, the home team batted first and scored 151 for 5.  Once again, it was Karan Ganesh (2 for 21) and Danial Ahmed (2 for 32) who impressed.  In the chase, USA got a decent start and did well to reach 110 for 3 at the end of 15 overs.  With just 42 runs needed from 5 overs, USA appeared to be on the verge of an upset.   UAE captain  Khurram Khan took two wickets in succession in the very next over, those of Steven Taylor (42) and Srini Santhanam (2).

After the sixteenth and seventeenth over yielded just 10 runs, the pressure mounted with the ask now climbing to 32 from 18 balls.  Dodson and Bartley added 10 runs in the 18th but three dot balls in the 19th created a shortfall that could not be overcome.  USA eventually ended with 137 for 7.
