Over the past 2 years, YFS sports tournaments have seen over 1000 participants, 30 sponsors, 50 volunteers and the games spread across multiple weekends. A total of $60,000 was raised.
Sewa International USA announced its third annual cricket fundraising event.
The 'Youth For Sewa' hard tennis ball cricket tournament will be played in Lincoln Park, Jersey City on 13th & 14th of July 2013. The goal of this tournament is for the participants (from NY and NJ) to have fun with friends, family or colleagues, while promoting awareness about Youth For Sewa (or YFS), an initiative of Sewa International, that focuses on youth involvement in social work.
Deadline for registrations is June 23rd. The games are open to both men and women and will be played between teams of 9 players each, using a hard tennis balls. Since each team will get 10 overs to bat, a game will not last more than 90 minutes. The venue of the final games, Lincoln Park in Jersey City, is very easily accessible via public transport.
Funds generated from this tournament will go towards ‘Vidyadaan’ - a program to help educate children from poor economic backgrounds.

This year, the goal is to sustain the scholarship support to about 400 children while attracting new volunteers to help Sewa’s social service efforts in the US.
