USA Cricket announced a timeline and electoral process for the election of the inaugural Board of Directors for USA Cricket.   The elections will begin on May 18, where seven constituent Director positions will be open. This includes three Individual Directors, two Player Directors, one Club Director and one League Director. The seven constituent Directors will then appoint the three Independent Directors recommended by the Nominating and Governance Committee announced last week.

Nominations are now open for members seeking to stand in the USA Cricket elections and the process that includes eligibility for voting is as follows:
  • To be eligible to vote in the USA Cricket elections, you must register as a member of USA Cricket by 11:59pm ET on 24 April 2018. Interested individuals can register here.
  • The preliminary list of all eligible individuals, clubs and leagues to vote will be announced on or around 27 April and will be open for a peer review.
  • Prospective Directors are invited to submit their application and a one-page candidate statement that is due to the Nominating and Governance Committee by 8 May.Additional information on the application process will be available via the documents section of the USACricket.org website soon.
  • The final list of all eligible candidates for election will be announced on 13 May.
  • The details of the election process follows last week’s announcement of the Nominating and Governance Committee that is charged with the responsibility of verifying the eligibility of candidates to stand for election for the seven constituent Directors as well as recommending the three Independent Directors for the inaugural Board of USA Cricket.
The key milestones in the inaugural election process are as follows:
  • 8 May - Closing deadline to receive nominations and candidate statements for the first set of seven constituent Board Directors
  • 13 May - Eligible candidates for seven constituent Board Director positions announced by the Nominating and Governance Committee
  • 18 May - USA Cricket elections start
  • 28 May - Initial election ends
  • 1 June - Run-off election starts (if required)
  • 8 June - Run-off election ends
  • 11 June - Seven constituent Board members election winners announced
The seven directors for which the elections will be held are:
  • Three Individual Directors: who will be elected by the entire Individual Membership (other than the International Players), thereby introducing the prospect of every Individual Member across the country having the right to directly influence who should represent them on the Board.
  • Two Player Directors: one female and one male - elected by the International Players who have represented the U.S. senior team in any event recognised or sanctioned by the ICC in the last ten years. This ensures the Board has female and male representation from those who have played the game at an elite level.
  • One Club Director: who will be elected by all registered and eligible clubs, thereby introducing the prospect of every club across the country having the right to directly influence who should represent them on the Board.
  • One League Director: who will be elected by all registered and eligible leagues, thereby acknowledging the continuing need and importance of the Leagues as vital stakeholders in the structure moving forward, which is also emphasized by the creation of a new Leagues Committee (reporting directly to the Board) which will contain representatives of the two biggest leagues in each of the six Zones across the country.
