A year ago, Michael Bamberger wrote a very interesting article that appeared in Sports Illustrated. Michael followed Barrington Bartley and his buddies who traveled to Maryland as their team, Kensington took on Virginia in the final of WCL.
It took him just one day to get a feel for the passion and devotion for the sport. And he also saw all that is not so perfect in club-level cricket - the politics, the stereotypes, the poor amenities.
At first glance, it is an article about a league match but if you look at it from a distance - it is USA cricket in capsule form.
"Ten years ago cricket was an exotic fringe sport in the U.S. But thanks to a surge of new immigrants -- and to elite players who follow the money and go to bat for more than one team -- it's coming to a field near you."
