World XI win Detroit's Diversity Cup 2011

A star studded World XI captained by MI cricketer Shahid Malik defeated USA Stars by 7 wickets to win the 6th Annual Diversity Cup Cricket Tournament held in Detroit on Labor Day weekend.  

Adam Sanford, former test cricketer from West Indies played for World XI.  Other prominent players of World XI included Akeem Dodson, Adriam Gordon, Moazzam Imtiaz and Hussain Haider.

In recognition of those that have left us, the best bowler trophy was named after Chandran Navaratnam, player of the match was named after Azmat Khan and the MVP trophy was named after Shekhs Aravind.

In the group stage, Pakistan Greens finished first in Group A after defeating World XI and India Blues, while Canada Maple Leafs finished first in Group B by defeating Sri Lanka Lions and USA Stars.   In the semis, USA Stars defeated Pakistan Greens while World XI defeated Canada Maple Leafs.   Steven Taylor, current U-19 player of USA national team played for USA Stars.
