Competitive one at that. I understood what was the difference between me and the national level players. It was a stretch. Even the state level players were far better than me. And I admired them. The kind of shuttle control and the stamina that those players possessed was beyond me.They played as if they were in a trance. The zone that mortals only hear about and never experienceThey were invincible in their minds.

Badminton is like Chess. You play with the opponent's mind and not only with his/her physical ability. Saina plays with the mind and not just the body. She will do the impossible because she believes that she can.

I saw a national championship being played on my home ground and the standard of play was some thing I couldn't imagine. It was too fast and too furious. To cover a court that looks very tiny on a TV, to defend the smashes and the drops and the half smashes tired me out even thinking about. I can understand how difficult it is to train, to do some 200 crunches, run some 8 km, do some sprints; not eat ice cream. Those were the BASICS for me.

And then we talk about international sports. The quality of the players whom we talk about. We want playerts to win. Saina Nehwal did all that hard work and more. I already wrote about her talking about her sacrifices. She deserves MORE.

Saina Nehwal has done far better then what her namesake did.Saina Nehwal became the #1 in the World. She is our kid. And it's Saina not Sania!!

.

Switch hitting - Sania Mirza style

Australian cricketers Mitchell Johnson and

Saina, coached by Pulela Gopichand is the World 15 as against World No 50+

Saina actually wins her first round matches

Saina actually performs under pressure when playing for her country.

Saina isn't seen in any ad (which is bad for her but maybe good for the country as of today)

Saina hasn't eaten any sweets/ ice creams for the last few years to remain fit as against I dunno what?

Saina hasn't ever threatened to quit playing for the country has she?

One is talking about the present and all one can ask for is to call her by her Actual name than some other famous (?) name..

And one isn't even talking about the Bindra family against the Yograj Singh family.. Any comments Mrs. Singh?

So we have a world number 32 here, who had an injury but still lost to a lower ranked opponent at Wimbledon, with 4 match points on hand. And we have the Chinese Zheng Jie reaching the semi finals of the Wimbledon ladies championships.

Remember, Zheng Jie was a wild card, who beat four seeds to reach the semi finals, she was ranked 133 before coming to Wimbledon. Her loss to Serena was a brave one. And we as Indians celebrate every match that Mirza wins. If that isn't a raritry, I challenge you to show me one. Sania had a window of opportunity, at her age, with a lot of senior players withdrawing or retiring, like Henin, Davenport or Mauresmo. Even the Williams's are rare on the circuit. This was her best opportunity to go ALL out. Another 6 months or a year, she'll fade out.

All the best m/s Mirza.. but this is your final chance, I think. I hope I am wrong........

(BTW the title means Insaaniyat, which is humanity, and I hope that m/s Mirza doesn't show it to her opponents)

Tendulkar and Kirilenko Play Mixed doubles!

Sachin wanted to play with Sania at the 2007 Sunfeast open! But Sania
