Sri Lanka appoints new Cricket board
COLOMBO, March 29 (AFP) - Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Lakshman Kiriella Thursday appointed an interim-panel to run the country's
crisis-ridden Cricket Control Board, a day after the elected office bearers were sacked.
The minister named Vijaya Malalasekara as the chairman of a four-member panel that comprises all former national cricket players.
The announcement was made a day after the minister sacked the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) following allegations that
they had violated sports laws by not giving adequate notice of an annual meet.
Other members of the new panel are Ashantha de Mel, Sidath Wettimuny and Michael Tissera.
