Colorado Cricket: Amit and Keyur smash records. Littleton wins Twenty20 League
Littleton Cricket Club won 9 matches on the trot after losing the first two and was crowned the 2008 Champion in the Colorado Cricket Twenty20 League.
 Bahri joined the Centurion Club
The Twenty20 league, which runs parallel to the Premier League, has seen several other records being created. On the batting front, Amit Bahri of the Boulder Cricket Club scored a century (101* from 49 balls) against Fort Collins Cricket Club on September 7th. This enabled his side to post a victorious target of 185 although Nitin Bharadwaj (98) of FCCC tried hard but in vain.
Amit's brilliant maiden century, studded with 6 sixes and 8 fours, came just two weeks after Amit Bahri, together with Sanjay Velamparambil, set a new league Twenty20 record for the 4th wicket partnership. In a match against Coal Creek Cricket Club, Amit scored 77* which included 7 fours and 3 sixes. Coal Creek recovered from this initial setback and successfully chased their target despite also having to incur Amit's wrath when it was his turn with the ball.
Keyur's 5 for 13 is a new record Some weeks ago, Boulder's Keyur Amin proved that the most effective bowling in the Twenty20 format was just to stay on the spot with line and length. In a match against Coal Creek, on a dry July day, he so effectively denied his opponents an opporunity to score, that after reaching 100 after 10 overs prior to Keyur's introduction as the fifth bowler, they collapsed for 136.
Keyur's tally was 4-0-13-5, a new league record in the Twenty20 format. This is how his bowling progressed -
First over - 2 runs - 1 wicket
Second over - 3 runs - 2 wickets
Third over - 5 runs - 1 wicket
Fourth over - 3 runs - 1 wicket.
UNM Cricketers pose with their new pitch Courtesy: UNM Cricket In other buzz from the league, University of New Mexico tried out their newly acquired pitch (a Flicx wicket from PavilionShop.com). Even though the wicket is expected to take some time to settle, the acquisition of a Flicx wicket marks a new era in university cricket in this part of the world. Their ground itself is at an elevation of around 5,300 feet and has a picturesque view of the 7,000 ft Sandia mountains to its East. Amitabh Trehan of UNM must get credit for making the pitch a reality.
UNM hosted UT El Paso on the weekend of July 28th. Last week, UNM hosted Littleton in back to back matches where the two sides shared the honors.
