Steve Massiah in glorious form in Nassau New York Cricket League
by DreamCricket USA

Sunday, September 13, 2009

USA senior cricket captain, Steve Massiah, continued his batting rampage in the Nassau New York Cricket League as he cracked another Twenty20 ton on Sunday, September 13, 2009.

Playing for United Sports Club versus Ramdeen Cricket Club, Massiah entertained those present with a majestic 115 not out (11x4 and 4x6) in just 70 balls.  This is Massiah's second hundred in as many games in the 2009 Nassau Cricket League Twenty20 cricket competition.  Massiah scored a blistering 104 against Albion Cricket Club in the previous match on August 30th. That inning was decorated with six sixes and an equal number of fours.  Vishal Nagamootoo (52) excelled alongside Massiah in both matches.

Their performances propelled United Sports Club into the Nassau Cricket League Division I Twenty20 final as United defeated Ramdeen C.C by 26 runs.  United Sports Club will meet Pure Players in the final Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Bays Water Park, Beach 32nd St. Far Rockaway.

In the Nassau League Super-4 final encounter, played on August 23rd at Baisley Pond Park, New York, Massiah (50),  Nagamootoo (32) and Dave Mohamed (47) played key roles in bringing home the championship to United.  They defeated West Indian Alliance.  Under the captaincy of Steve Massiah, United Sports Club went undefeated in 2009 in the Nassau Cricket League regular season competition and play-offs with a record of 15-0.

USA will certainly need a few more innings like this from Massiah early next year in the United Arab Emirates where USA will be competing against Ireland, Canada, Kenya, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates for spot in the ICC World Twenty20 2010.
