USA Cricket: Three USA players help ICC Americas Women's team to second place at T & T tourney

USA women's national team players Triholder Marshall, Claudine Beckford and Samantha Ramautar helped an ICC Americas representative side to a second place finish at a women’s Twenty20 tournament held last weekend in Trinidad & Tobago. Argentina player Sofia Retamales was named the MVP of the ICC Americas squad after finishing with 79 runs in three innings at an average of 39.50 to finish number one on the team in both categories.

The ICC Americas women’s squad was composed of adult players from USA, Canada, Bermuda, Brazil, Argentina competing against U-19 women’s teams from St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Trinidad & Tobago along with a Trinidad & Tobago Board XI, a development squad. ICC Americas beat Trinidad & Tobago Board XI and St. Lucia while losing to Trinidad & Tobago. The ICC Americas squad’s match against St. Vincent was washed out. The ICC Americas team finished with seven points as the runner-up to Trinidad & Tobago, who won the event with 12 points after going 4-0.

Ramautar was the best performing player of the USA representatives. She finished second on the squad with four wickets in 10 overs at an average of 9.50. Only Sharon Seaton from Argentina was better on the ICC Americas team, taking five wickets at an average of 6.40.

Marshall took two wickets at an average of 22.00 in 10.5 overs during the event and also effected a run out in the field. At the crease, she finished fourth on the team with 32 runs at an average of 10.67. Beckford did not get an opportunity to bat but did bowl in one match, taking 0 for 16 in three overs.
