USA vice-captain Sushil Nadkarni has inked a one-year equipment sponsorship with SS Sunridges. Nadkarni signed the contract shortly before leaving for 2012 ICC WCL Division Four, where he finished as the leading run scorer in the tournament to help USA progress to Division Three next spring in Bermuda.
“My very first bat ever in my life was an SS when I first started playing cricket,” Nadkarni said. “I feel pretty privileged because at the moment SS is being used by all the top players internationally. So the fact that they looked at my CV and went through with the contract with me, that makes me feel pretty lucky.”
Since 2006 when Nadkarni made his debut for USA, he has been USA’s leading scorer across all formats. Nadkarni is hoping to continue his form next year when USA participates in the ICC Americas Division One Twenty20 tournament as well as Division Three in Bermuda.

“I’m pretty motivated and working really hard on the fitness. Overall I think my goal is to try and push USA into Division Two next year,” Nadkarni said. “I think it’s very realistic because in that Division Three tournament, the three teams that have the best potential according to me are Nepal, USA and Italy, not to say the other teams don’t matter but if you look on paper I think two teams out of these three will make it. We played in Bermuda two years back and we did really well because the wickets seemed to be seaming wickets over there and that seems to suit our style of play and the grounds are a little small as well.”
Nadkarni scored 163 not out this past weekend coming in at number four to guide Triggers Cricket Club Spartans past Houston Cougars Sports Club and into the final of the Houston Cricket League 40-over final where Triggers will face Houston India CC. He hopes to continue scoring runs with his new equipment, whether it’s at the club level or in a USA uniform.
“I’m looking forward to promoting the SS gear in the US,” Nadkarni said. “I know a lot of distributors and companies stock SS gear so I’m really looking forward to being a good brand ambassador for them.”
