The 2013 Auty Cup series between USA and Canada has been scheduled to take place from July 25-28 in either Toronto or Edmonton according to a 2013 schedule of international events recently announced by USACA. The tour will consist of a two-day match for the Auty Cup trophy followed by a 50-over contest and two Twenty20 matches.

Canada toured Florida in November 2012 in the most recent Auty Cup series and retained the trophy after a first innings lead in the two-day match. Canada also won the 50-over match before the two sides split the pair of T20 matches played at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill.

While the greater Toronto area is well known for having multiple turf wicket facilities, including the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club and Maple Leaf Cricket Club, this would be the first major foray into hosting international cricket for Edmonton. A turf pitch was installed in 2011 in the city’s Victoria Park. The ground and park enjoy a central location in the capital of Alberta, unlike the two major turf wicket grounds in Toronto. The TCSCC is on the northern fringe of Toronto in North York while Maple Leaf CC is a 45-minute drive north of downtown Toronto in King City.

USA’s international slate for 2013 begins next month when they compete against Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Suriname and the recently promoted Bahamas at the 2013 ICC Americas Division One Twenty20 tournament from March 17-23 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The top two teams will advance to the 2013 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in the UAE, which is scheduled to take place in November according to a previous ICC press release.

Canada will not be participating in the ICC Americas tournament by virtue of having already qualified for the World Twenty20 Qualifier with a top six finish in the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. Instead, they will be touring the UAE in March for matches against Kenya in the ICC Intercontinental Cup and World Cricket League Championship.

At the conclusion of the ICC Americas Division One Twenty20 tournament, multiple teams are expected to remain in Florida from March 24-30 to play a series of 50-over matches designed as preparation for Bermuda and the USA ahead of their participation in 2013 ICC World Cricket League Division Three, scheduled to run from April 28-May 5 in Bermuda. The two teams from the Americas will go up against Italy, Nepal, Oman and Uganda with the first and second place finishers moving on to the 2014 ICC World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand. If USA finishes in the top two in Bermuda, the ICC may provide as much as $175,000 in supplemental funding to use for preparing the team for the World Cup Qualifier according to info posted on the USACA web site.

At the junior level, USA is scheduled to participate against Canada and Bermuda in Toronto from July 7-14 at the 2013 ICC Americas U-19 Division One championship. The event is currently scheduled to be a double round-robin event. The winner will represent the Americas at the 2014 ICC U-19 World Cup in the UAE.
