USA Cricket: USACA AGM to be held on November 16 in Florida

USACA invited members in good standing to its Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, in Plantation, FL.

The AGM's agenda includes a presentation of the 2013 financial report.   USACA filed for an extension until November 15th for its 2012 tax filing.

Financial constraints have so far prevented USACA from making lasting investments in cricket development.   In September 2013, USACA announced an ambitious Strategic Plan for 2014-2016.  In addition, USACA has committed to restarting the national tournament in 2014. USACA also announced a junior cricket program aimed at 6 to 13 year olds.

The November 15th tax filing as well as the 2013 financial report by John Thickett are expected to provide members with some insights on USACA's ability to invest in the initiatives that the organization has already announced.

Attendees will also look for updates regarding Cricket Holdings America LLC's plans.  CHALLC had initially announced that the UST20 league would launch with up to six teams in 2013 with the 'best players in the world competing in a new national competition.'   There have not been any updates regarding the UST20 league other than the announcement in January that the league was being pushed out to 2014.  "The financial impact on USACA should not be burdensome because USACA is still entitled to fees under the current agreement," CHALLC Chairman and USACA President Gladstone Dainty said at the time.  It is anticipated that the Treasurer's report will provide a more realistic assessment regarding the impact of the delay.

Brian Walters, Chairman of USACA's Governance Review Committee, wrote in his last update that the member leagues would be able to vote on the governance model at the AGM.  While the agenda for the AGM includes a discussion on "Ways to Build Upon USACA’s Governance Structure and empower our Regions,” a vote for the adoption of the governance model does not appear to be on the agenda.
