American Cricket Federation (ACF) named 12 of its member leagues in a month-long LeagueToberfest feature that appeared on the organization's website. The list included two soft ball cricket leagues and ten hard ball cricket leagues.
While the organization announced the support of twelve hard ball leagues in September of last year, it formally began accepting members in 2013 following the ratification of its constitution.
Several of the original supporting leagues, including Michigan Cricket Association, Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board, Midwest Cricket Conference, Florida Cricket Conference, Cricket League of New Jersey and the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association became members of the organization.
ACF's LeagueToberfest list also held some surprises. Prominent among the new joiners were Massachusetts State Cricket League, North Florida Cricket League and Greater Philadelphia Cricket League. Also, Metro Detroit Cricket League became the second heavy tennis ball member league. It joined NJ Softball Cricket League in this category. Non-league supporters such as USYCA, CC Morris Cricket Library and Philadelphia Cricket Festival have also formally joined the ACF as members.
Absent from the list of members were five leagues that had expressed support to the organization last September - Southern California Cricket Association, Minnesota Cricket Association, Commonwealth Cricket League, American Cricket Conference, Eastern American Cricket Association and NorthWest Cricket League.
According to one member familiar with ACF's membership process, Jamie Harrison, the CEO of ACF, has been visiting leagues and making presentations regarding ACF's plans. California's Orange County Cricket Association joined the ACF after a recent visit and more members were expected to join in the near to medium-term, the source said.
