USA defeated Nepal but lost to Scotland in the warm-up phase of the ICC World T20 Qualifiers in the UAE.
In the second warm-up match played earlier today, Nepal batted first but lost wickets in each of the first two overs. Paras Khadka was lbw to Muhammad Ghous and Nepal was truly in trouble with the scorecard reading 41 for 3. Stability came in the form of a 35-run fourth wicket partnership by Gyanendra Malla (36) and Binod Bhandari (22).
Muhammad Ghous was among the eight bowlers employed in the match and his four overs yielded two wickets. Srini Santhanam and Japen Patel did not bowl in the warm-up.
In the chase, USA's openers Steve Taylor (20) and Akeem Dodson (19) provided a decent start adding 30 runs before Taylor departed in the third over. But USA never lost sight of the target and Elmore Hutchinson (33), Timroy Allen (32*) and Srini Santhanam (10*) played their part as USA defeated by a five wicket margin. Sagar Pun was the most effective bowler for Nepal picking up the wickets of Orlando Baker and Akeem Dodson in his four over spell.
In yesterday's first warm-up match against Scotland, USA received a seven wicket drubbing. Despite Steven Taylor's stroke filled 55 at the start that included 4 fours and 3 sixes, USA struggled to convert that into a massive total. Akeem Dodson's 18 and Adam Sanford's 28 saved USA the blushes as Orlando Baker (6), Timroy Allen (8), Elmore Hutchinson (2), Japen Patel (4) and Neil McGarrell (1) - all failed to reach double digits. For Scotland, Iain Wardlaw took 3 for 25 from his 4 overs.
