The American Cricket Federation (ACF) in conjunction with the Washington Metro Cricket Board (WMCB) conducted a one-day cricket clinic over the weekend with two legendary West Indies Test cricketers Michael Holding and Alvin Kallicharran leading twenty-five cricketers, including two female players, at the Capital Sports Complex in Glendale, MD.
Participants were divided into two groups, with each group participating in batting and bowling techniques at the very spacious indoor sports complex.
Sponsored in part by Zee Sports International, Inc. of Manassas, VA, the clinic was well organized and well received by the participants, some of who had driven from the New York area to be a part of the inaugural ACF cricket clinic.
Alvin Kallicharran said, “I hope to continue working alongside the American Cricket Federation and to help with what you chaps are hoping to accomplish.” Adding, What you (ACF) are trying to do, I think you can’t go wrong. You can’t have better role models than people like Michael Holding. I am happy to lend myself to what’s happening…in America, and I hope to work alongside you...”
West Indies Test player and cricketing legend Michael Holding stated, “We are hoping to help kids who are interested in the game to have a pathway to get to as good as they can possibly get.”
ACF is planning to host similar one-day sessions in other parts of the United States.
