The American Cricket Federation announced today that the all-time leading South African wicket-taker, Shaun Pollock, joined its Honorary Advisory Board.
Pollock, Wisden’s Cricketer of the Year for 2003, took over 400 wickets and scored over 3,700 runs in his 108 Test matches. These figures are nearly doubled when adding in Shaun’s impressive One Day International totals.
The former Test and ODI captain said, “I am pleased and honored to join such a distinguished group that makes up the ACF Honorary Advisory Board. On my trip to the USA for the Philadelphia Cricket Festival last year, I was excited to see the potential that could be unleashed in the cricketing circles of America.
“As a former player, I’m impressed by what I read about the national domestic league ACF has started. I would like to see it go from strength to strength and I look forward to contributing any way I can, to help it do so.”
ACF CEO Jamie Harrison said, “We are thrilled to have someone of Shaun Pollock’s quality and character join the Honorary Advisory Board. The experience he brings to ACF as a match-winning international captain will be especially helpful as we build America’s national domestic cricket league.
“We are also inspired by the growing number of respected international cricketers who have chosen to join us in our mission to build cricket in the United States, and we are immensely grateful for this global display of support.”
