On May 21, Missouri Youth Cricket Association conducted a two hour cricket presentation at the Ackerman School, which is part of Special School District of St. Louis, focusing on students between the ages of 5-14 years with a range of disabilities.
"This was a unique experience for MYCA to introduce Cricket to these wonderful kids, and we were amazed at their enthusiasm and participation," Priya Singh of MYCA wrote in a memo that was published on USYCA's website. Following a specially compiled 18 minute video presentation that was filled with music, animation and instructions, MYCA conducted a Q&A session where the kids asked many questions.
The Q&A session was followed by a demo, which was about 30 minutes per class. The energy and participation from children was unmatched to any other MYCA cricket presentation.
"The kids adapted to cricket quickly and we are hoping they would continue enjoying the sport in the gym and outdoors with the free cricket set that USYCA provided. MYCA is committed to provide any support the school needs towards learning and developing this sport in their school," Ms. Singh wrote. MYCA officers Christina Tucker, Matt Clark and Ranjeet Singh accompanied Priya Singh at the event.
Ms. Singh thanked the Ackerman School, and especially Julie Zensen, PE Teacher, for introducing the wonderful sport of cricket to the school's children.
