BERLIN (AFP) - Borussia Dortmund have been hit by a string of injuries with Mats Hummels, Sven Bender and Jakub Blaszczykowski, all out of action after receiving knocks during the Bundesliga club's 1-1 draw against Hanover.
International defender Hummels will be out for at least two weeks with a right foot injury and will miss Germany's 2014 World Cup qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden next week.
Poland international Blaszczykowski will be sidelined for six weeks with a left ankle injury and will miss a World Cup qualifier against England, while fellow midfielder Bender will also be out for two weeks with a head injury.
The injuries mean defending Bundesliga champions Dortmund, who are currently in fourth place nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich, will be weakend for their Ruhr derby against Schalke on October 20.
Dortmund host Real Madrid in the Champions League on October 24, with the Germans second in Group D behind the Spaniards after two matches.
