Greg Chappell completed one year as coach of the
Indian team in August. He took over in Sri Lanka last
year where India were beaten by the hosts in the final
of the ODI tri-series.
The tenure has been a controversial one with plenty of
ups and downs and the biggest news of all being his
leaked e-mail that sealed the fate of captain Sourav
Ganguly.
While the highlights include winning the Test series
in the West Indies earlier this year, the lows have
been losing to Pakistan in the Test series and to the
West Indies in the ODIs.
Besides, India also crushed Sri Lanka and England at
home in the ODI series.
Chappell has surprised as well as shocked Indian
cricket followers with his radical thinking and
out-of-the-box methods.
Some experiments have come off and some have not. So
have all these changes been worthwhile or have they
set Indian cricket back?
With Rahul Dravid firmly in the saddle as captain, the
two have inevitably invited comparisons with the
previous regime of Ganguly and John Wright. How do the
two pairs compare?
And how should Chappell's report card be marked for
the past 12 months in charge?
