| Gulu Ezekiel Blog: Do we want More? |

Chairman of selectors Kiran More went out with a
whimper more than a bang at the end of his four-year
term. Considering no match could be played in last
month's jinxed tri-series in Sri Lanka, the work of
the selection committee was made that much easier when
they picked the team for the DLF Cup tri-series in
Kuala Lumpur later this month. All they had to do was
retain the same 15.
More has been one of the most outspoken and
controversial chief selectors of recent times and was
instrumental in showing Sourav Ganguly the door. That
gives him equal billing with coach Greg Chappell as
villain-in-chief at least in Kolkata.
But then no team selected is ever without at least one
surprise and the dropping of pace bowler S. Sreesanth
for the Champions Trophy next month raised quite a few
eyebrows.
Sreesanth was impressive in the West Indies but to his
misfortune only 14 players could be chosen for the
Champions Trophy. Left arm pacer RP Singh has really
done nothing of note and he can consider himself
distinctly lucky to be included.
Both the Aussies and the Indians are being put through
the grind by their coaches Chappell and John Buchanan
respectively. While our boys seem to have enjoyed the
innovative methods employed, the world champions
appear to have mixed feelings about their tough 'boot
camp' in the bush.
