Herschelle Gibbs has finally decided to bite the
bullet and make another trip to India after a lapse of
six years.
Lying in wait for him are the investigative term of
the Delhi Police who unearthed the match fixing
scandal involving the late South African captain
Hansie Cronje and others including Gibbs and Nicky
Boje.
Surprisingly, left-arm spinner Boje was not part of
the South African team for the Champions. He too has
been playing hooky since that now-infamous tour of
2000.
They both received light sentences from the South
African authorities while the Delhi Police are keen on
merely questioning the duo.
Thats why its so strange that Gibbs advisors have
been feeding him with so much information.
For Gibbs to refer to the Delhi Police 'hard arses'
for insisting on meeting him was totally uncalled for.
Besides, he will have his two lawyers to hold his hand
right through.
A few years ago his father said he did not want his
son to rot in an Indian prison! Has a single convicted
match-fixer spent a single day in jail? So what is
Gibbs Sr. scared about? Is it a case of guilty
conscience? We will soon find out.
