As expected, both teams wrung in some changes, but the ones that would have affected the DCTOs were the resting of Sohail Tanvir.

Match Review: May 20 - 1st Semi Final: Rajasthan v Delhi

Sehwag sprung a surprise when he brought in Mohammad Asif (Bowler, $650,000) in place of Brett Geeves. Owners who would have punted on Asif making a comeback may just be at a distinct advantage.

The match may be of no real consequence for the two teams, but for the DCTOs, it was one of the last opportunities to add to their portfolios.

May 27, 2008
Match Review: May 27 - Deccan v Chennai

Adam Gilchrist (Wicketkeeper, $700,816) was playing his last match in this season’s IPL and majority of the DCTOs would have been pretty upset with his scores in the last three innings – including this one – as he went for only five today.

Rajasthan Royals clinched a thriller of a match off the last ball again, but the DCTOs would have been very disappointed by the performance of both the teams in this second innings.

It was Ganguly’s day, as he saw his team through to a win from a near hopeless situation.

May 24, 2008
Match Review: May 24 - Chennai v Rajasthani

Most of the top ranked DCTOs, they had opted for a Gilchrist as the wicket keeper over M.S. Dhoni, who failed again, scoring only 12.

Match Review: May 24 - Delhi v Mumbai

Sanath Jayasurya (Allrounder, $975,856) has turned around his fortunes in this tournament like only he can.

Wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkar was not in too many DCTOs teams, and with his team playing only two matches as compared to Deccan’s three, it was only justified.

May 23, 2008
Match Review: May 22 - Kolkata v Delhi

Today’s match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi DareDevils was abandoned. So the DCTOs would get no points for their portfolio.

Rahul Dravid continues to surprise everyone with his captaincy, and his decision to bat first on a pitch under the covers due to rain, was surprising to say the least.

Just when it seemed that a total of 123 would be difficult to get, Mahela Jayawardene and Luke Pomersbach combined together to add 63 runs of 27 balls to secure the win.

May 18, 2008
Match Review: May 18 - Kolkata v Chennai

Stephen Fleming (Bat, $350,118) has been underperforming in this tournament, both for his franchise, and for any of his DCTOs, and today it looked like he may have got off to a good start scoring a 20-ball 32 quick fire runs.

May 18, 2008
Match Review: May 17 - Rajasthan v Bangalore

Drastic steps were needed by Rahul Dravid to convince his owner that they were not participating in the tournament to fill in the numbers only. And so, out went Mark Boucher.

Match Review: May 18 - Deccan v Mumbai

Venugopal Rao (Allrounder, $50,214) was almost termed as a strokeless wonder of Indian cricket. This IPL, he has proved why all those people were so off the mark.

Almost as if to show that Jayasuriya had been waiting for Tendulkar’s return to IPL, he hit 11 sixes and some more boundaries, and stitched together an unbeaten 114 off only 48 deliveries!

Match Review: May 15 - Delhi v Deccan

Gambhir has been a blue chip for all those DCTOs who managed to buy him at the IPO – which would have cost them $725,000 – and they are all reaping benefits now.

If McGrath has served a notice to all and sundry alike, of his mean-as-ever bowling, then it was the turn of Shoaib Akhtar to remind the PCB – and the fans alike – the pedigree of a bowler he is.

Sourav Ganguly was into bat as early as the fifth ball of the match after Butt’s early dismissal, and from then on, he warmed the cockled the hearts of all the Dada-fans.

May 11, 2008
Match Review: May 11 - Rajasthan v Delhi

Shane Warne has been known to spring a surprise or two in this tournament, and today was no different. He opted for the all round capabilities of Dmitri Mascarhenhas (Allrounder, $100,000) – which was a reasonable move – in place of Sohail Tanvir – which was shocking!

May 10, 2008
Match Review: May 10 - Chennai v Mohali

Given the kind of form Shaun Marsh (Bat, $50,353) has been in this tournament, it would have been foolhardy of the DCTOs, not to have picked him up in their teams, given his undervaluation.

May 10, 2008
Match Review: May 9 - Rajasthan v Deccan

With VVS Laxman not yet fit enough, Gilchrist continued his opening stint with Hershelle Gibbs (Bat, $575,062), someone who has been disappointing to say the least and a score of 19 does no justice to his talent.

The Royal Challengers would have been in a state of shock after what one can euphemistically term as a ‘resignation’ of their CEO, Charu Sharma, where as, Ganguly would have been feeling the heat from close and sundry as well.

Match Review: May 7th - Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals

DCTOs would have been felt a little let down, especially by Jayasuriya, who has definitely not lived upto his original, costly billing of $975,000. He lost his wicket for 18 today when he – again – looked like going on to make a big one.

While terming this as a must-win match for the Bangalore Royal Challengers team would be stretching the issue a bit, the fact of the matter was that, with only two hard fought wins, the team from the South was looking anything but comfortable with its team combination.

Mumbai Indians seem to have got a little desperate, and with an eye to get the combination right, they made a wholesale of changes to their side. Which is why, it becomes difficult for DCTOs to select players from teams which are not performing too well.

Usually, in night matches, captains have shown a healthy penchant towards chasing totals down, rather than setting them up, mostly because of the abbreviated form of the game and the dew factor.

Match Review: Bombay v Kolkata - May1

Just when one thought that the Mumbai Indians team was down for the count, their combination of youth and experience in Sanath Jayasuriya, Dwayne Bravo and Robin Uthappa ensured that the absence of Harbhajan Singh and Sachin Tendulkar would not be felt. However, the people who did feel the sound of that Harbhajan slap were some of our Dream Cricket Team Owners (DCTO), with only one in the top ten ranked DCTO having taken the Turbanator in their teams. Team AS, which was ranked 7th before this match slipped to number 10 in Bhajjis absence, and the DCTO would do well to get the player replaced in the next trading period. The biggest change, however, was caused due to the players mentioned above, i.e. Sanath Jayasuriya and Dwayne Bravo, who along with David Hussey, contributed to Team Creme De La Creme 2 Portfolios rank improve from 66th to 7th; easily one of the best ever jumps!
