Muttiah Muralithran spins the web on South African batsmen today to help Sri
Lanka lift the Singer Trophy. Muralithran's five dismissals and a catch of
helpless South Africans gained him $220 in the finals. Newcomer Kumar
Sangakkara continued his winning performance scoring 43 runs and taking 3
catches behind the stumps to move up by (18.71%) $163. Sangakkara, returned a
whopping 72% to his captains to become the highest percentage gainer for
the tournament. Gary Kirsten was the only three figure mover from the South
African side, he scored 76 runs and took a catch to move up by 10.09% ($121).
Nuwan Zoysa and David Terbrugge were the only players in the negative
territory today, both went down by $10 for their sub par bowling
performance.
Murali returned 17.91%, winning the Man of the Match award, made amends to his
sub par performance during the tournament and rewarded his captains handsomely. (

David Terbrugge cut through the Pakistani line up with a superb bowling spell
taking four wicket for 20 runs. Terbrugge, gained $140 for his effort. The
highest gainer of the day was Mark Baucher taking five catches behind the stumps
to spike his value by $200.
Azar Mahmood was the only shinning star in the
Pakistani side scoring 36 runs and taking two catches to gain $96.
For the second straight day Lance Klusner was on the down side, today he went
down by $10 for his dismal bowling performance. Imran Nazir and Abdur Razzaq
failed to make any positive contribution to their captains, going down by $10
and $9 respectively.(

Sri Lanka maintained their unbeaten record with a 8 wicket thrashing of
South Africa in their last match. South Africa and Pakistan play the final
match of the preliminary rounds on July 12th. Avishka Gunawardene was the
highest gainer of the day moving up by $112 (16.37%) for adding 87 runs to the
Sri Lankan board. Jacques Kallis, matched Gunawardene effort for the South
African side scoring 83 runs to move up by 8.35% ($108).
Mahela Jayawardena was
a busy man on the field taking 4 catches and scoring 14 runs to gain 7.70% ($94).
On 1the downside was Lance Klusener who failed to take a wicket or add any runs
to the South African innings, saw his value plummet by $20 (-1.40%). Mornantau
Hayward went down by $10(-1.31%) for scoring a duck. (

Sri Lanka overcame Pakistan in the opening match of the Singer Cup. Nuwan
Zoysa had a magical spell taking four wickets for 34 runs, raising his value
by $160 (17.78%) making him the highest gainer for the day.
On the batting side
Marvan Atapattu's controlled innings of 62 runs to move by $87 (8.70%) for his
effort with the bat, ensured the Sri Lankan victory. Inzamam ul Huq studied
the Pakistani innings scoring 83 runs taking his value up by $108 (9.39%), but
failed to get any support from his teammates.
On the downside were Avishka Gunawardena and Mohammed Akram. Newcomer
Gunawardena saw his value drop by $10 (1.67%) for failing to score a run with the
bat and Akram failed with the ball and went down by $9 (1.0%). (
