USA's historic T20Is against UAE to be live-streamed on YouTube

2019 Mar 14 by DreamCricket USA

Speaking about the tour, USA Head Coach Pubudu Dassanayake said he was excited by the prospect of the country’s first official Twenty20 Internationals. “It’s been a long time coming for USA to get back to internationals with official status, so I’m very much looking forward to the challenge against a strong UAE side. We know as a group however that the most important thing for us is to get into the perfect shape and make every provision that we can ahead of World Cricket League Division 2 in April."

USA Cricket announced that its first-ever official Twenty20 International matches against the United Arab Emirates will be live streamed this weekend on YouTube for free via the USA Cricket YouTube channel.

In addition to the two T20 Internationals, one each on March 15th and 16th, Team USA and UAE will face off in three 50 Overs matches on March 18th, 25th and 28th.  Furthermore, USA will also play 50-over games versus UAE XI on March 21st, 22nd and 24th.  On March 19th, USA will play a game against the Lancashire county side.

Preparing for the Qualification Pathway

This tour is intended to prepare USA for the six-nation ICC World Cricket League Division 2 (WCL2) tournament in Namibia.  The WCL 2, to be played between April 20-27, features USA, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Canada, Namibia and Oman, and serves as the qualification pathway for the 2023 ICC World Cup.

The stakes are pretty high in Namibia.  USA will aim to finish among the top four countries in Namibia, enabling it to gain ODI status as well as an entry into the 2019–21 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 alongside Scotland, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.  Top three finishers in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 will then move to the ten-team World Cup Qualifier in 2022.  From there, two teams will proceed to the ten-team 2023 ICC World Cup to be played in India.

Team USA for Dubai:

Earlier, USA Cricket announced the squad for the tour of Dubai, making two changes from the squad that played in WCL Division 3.  Xavier Marshall and Jasdeep Singh returned to the squad in place of Alex Amsterdam and Nisarg Patel.
