Our Story

2000: Begins operations as an online fantasy cricket site.

2003: Starts selling Gunn & Moore equipment in USA, a precursor of The Pavilion online store.

2004: Obtains North America rights for Richie Benaud's Greatest XI DVD. Gets into video rights business.

2005: Launches online store at pavilionshop.com. Becomes distributor for MRF cricket equipment. Gains 8,000 USA customers in 2 years of operation.

2006: Buys rights for Ashes 2005 series. Video catalog grows to 100 cricket titles. Becomes distributor for Kookaburra cricket equipment.

Spring 2007: Adds USA cricket news. Becomes distributor for Flicx Cricket Pitches and Gemini Bowling Machines for North America. Launches two new games (Zone, Doosra) and becomes the first cricket website to deploy its full-featured fantasy cricket game on mobile devices via Mobio.

Summer 2007: Launches 3200 sq ft physical store in New Jersey. This facility will include two indoor batting cages for cricket. Simultaneously builds a cricket equipment outpost in Fremont. Becomes content partner to Cricket America (Ten Sports).

Fall 2007: Dreamcricket Pavilion shop opens Pro Cages with bowling machines and Astro Grass surface in Hillsborough, NJ. [For reservations and membership plans

Venu Palaparthi

Co-founder and Advisory Board member

Venu Palaparthi was instrumental in reshaping DreamCricket's strategy in 2004 from a single-product fantasy cricket website to its present focus on USA cricket. Venu started his career at Reuters in Content and Marketing Strategy. Venu works in the world of financial marketplaces in New York.

Venu has a Bachelors in Computer Science and Economics from BITS Pilani and an MBA from University of Texas, Arlington.

Venu Myneni

Advisory Board member

Venu Myneni advises Dreamcricket on its India plans and retail strategy. Venu is the President and CEO of Radiant Systems which he founded in 1995. Radiant has won numerous awards, including the Inc. 500 award as one of the fastest growing companies in the nation, the Deloitte & Touche Fast 500 award, New Jersey Finest award from PWC, and 40 Under 40 award from Business News - New Jersey.

Venu has served on the Board of New Jersey Technology Council and is the current Co-Chairman of CIO council. Venu received a Masters in Engineering from City College of New York (CUNY), New York and Bachelors in Engineering from Andhra University, India.

Shashi Buluswar

Advisory Board member and Conscience Keeper

Shashi keeps wickets for Chicago Giants in the Midwest Cricket Conference. He is the Director of the upcoming movie - 'Leg Before Wicket' which is based on the story Chicago Giants. Dreamcricket.com co-produced this film and that is how our association began.

Shashi is currently Senior Vice President at Zurich Financial Services in Chicago. Before this, he was an Associate Partner at the consulting firm McKinsey and Company in their Retail Technology practice. Shashi also works actively in the non-profit sector, especially in the area of human rights advocacy.

Shashi obtained an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts. Prior to rediscovering his love for cricket, Shashi was on Indian national rowing team for 10 years.

NT Shiv Kumar

Strategic Investor and Advisory Board member

Shiv Kumar has advised Dreamcricket through its evolution from a pure-fantasy cricket site to a cricket site focused on the lean-forward cricketer. A die-hard cricket addict, Shiv first started writing for Dreamcricket in 2006 and eventually joined the Advisory Board to create new growth avenues in emerging cricket markets and enlist luminaries of the game to enrich the portal contents.

An alumnus of BITS Pilani, Shiv has spent over 19 years in the IT/BPO offshore outsourcing space-working with the HCL group for 16 years before his tenure as head of global sales & marketing at Oakhill Capital?s portfolio company EXL Service, which had an impressive NASDAQ listing in 2006. Shiv embarked on his entrepreneurial journey with a mission to institutionalize his pioneering ?Microsourcing? outsourcing model and is actively engaged in several educational and philanthropic initiatives to foster University-Industry collaboration for creating a vibrant Rural BPO business in India, apart from serving on the boards of several private and publicly listed outsourcing firms in the India-US business corridor.

Boria Majumdar

Boria Majumdar, a Rhodes Scholar, received his doctorate in 2004 from Oxford University. His dissertation was on the social history of Indian cricket. He also published a book on the subject the same year - "Twenty-Two Yards to Freedom: A Social History of Indian Cricket" (Penguin, 2004). A well-known media figure, he has done television programs for Ten Sports, ESPN, NDTV, Headlines Today and Channel 7 and is an Editorial Columnist for the Times of India, Outlook, Wisden and Anandabazar Patrika.

Boria is General Editor General Editor, Sport in the Global Society Series, (Routledge) and Deputy Executive Editor, International Journal of the History of Sport, Taylor and Francis, London. Boria is a Research Fellow at Latrobe University in Melbourne and a Fellow of the International Olympic Museum at Lausanne. He has taught both at University of Chicago and University of Toronto.

Boria's book credits include The Illustrated History of Indian Cricket, New Delhi: Roli Books, India and Tempus, UK, October 2006; Goalless: The story of a unique footballing nation, with Kausik Bandyopadhyay, Penguin-Viking, January 2006; and Lost Histories of Indian Cricket: Battles of the Pitch, Routledge, (2005). He is also the author of the forthcoming monographs/edited Collections: World Cup 2007-Tales of a sad caper-Harper Collins, Delhi, 2007; Olympism: The Global Vision, From Nationalism to Internationalism, co-edited with Sandra Collins, Routledge, 2007; Cricket, Race and the 2007 World Cup, co-edited with Jon Gemmell, Routledge, 2008 and Revisiting 1857-Myth, Memory, History, co-edited with Sharmistha Gooptu, Roli Books India, 2007.

Kranthi Bayya

CEO

Kranthi Bayya manages all of Dreamcricket Operations, which includes PavilionShop.com. Under her leadership, PavilionShop.com has successfully transformed from being a single-brand retailer to USA's leading purveyor of cricket.

Kranthi has an MS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Texas, Arlington and brings with her 10 years of experience in line management, reliability engineering and research at General Motors. Between 2002 and 2004, Kranthi anchored a popular radio program in New Jersey.

Ara Pararajasingham

Co-founder and Wicket Keeper

Besides advising Dreamcricket on its product strategy, Ara is standing in as the Manager of Dreamcricket's India Operations. Ara was part of the founding team which designed Dreamcricket - the world's first Fantasy Cricket website. Ara is a Director of Leander Paes Sport in Bangalore with primary interests in tennis but claims cricket as his first love. Before joining Leander Paes Sport, Ara worked as VP of Program Management at JPMorganChase. Ara has a Bachelors degree from MCC-Chennai and an MBA from University of Hartford.

Mahender Bohra

Co-founder and Pinch Hitter

Mahender designed the original Dreamcricket fantasy cricket website after finishing graduate school and has aided the website growth ever since. Mahender plays an integral role in guiding Dreamcricket technology strategy. Mahender started his career at Sapient in Technology Consulting and has several years of experience managing large-scale technology projects. He currently manages Technologists at a leading fitness and nutrition company. A die-hard cricketer, he played cricket during college and more recently in the New York league.

Mahender has a Bachelors in Computer Engineernig from VESIT, University of Mumbai and a Masters in Computer Science from Syracuse University.

Nithya Coutinho

VP - California Region

As the custodian of the Dreamcricket brand in California, Nithya's goal is to help Dreamcricket.com realize its plans for Westward expansion during 2007. A graduate of Bangalore University, Nithya has five years of experience in Gaming Development, most of it at Electronic Arts.
