Dish Network Sponsored Cricket Camp to be held in San Jose, California between December 28, 2009 and January 3, 2010

International Cricket Coach Ian Pont will hold a special winter camp for cricketers in San Jose - the first such camp in the Bay Area.  DreamCricket Academy is presenting the camp in association with Bay Area cricket leagues including the California Cricket Academy.

The Dish Network Cricket Camp will focus on developing bowling skills of Bay Area cricketers.  Bowling, akin to pitching in baseball, is a specialized skill.  Ian Pont is a highly regarded fast bowling coach, who has built a reputation working with international players such as Darren Gough, Dale Steyn and Andre Nel.

Registrations are currently being accepted by the DreamCricket Academy for the roughly 30 spots that are open for the camp that will be held
at the MVP Arena in San Jose between December 28th, 2009 and January 3rd, 2010.  Cricketers will be coached in Under-15 and Over-15 age categories.  Ian will also conduct Private 1-to-1 coaching and a Coach-the-Coach workshop.

Ian Pont played first class cricket for Nottinghamshire and Essex and overseas cricket for South African side Natal during the 1980’s.  In addition to his many bowling feats, he is also known for fielding and throwing skills.  He has the second longest recorded throw of all time – a mammoth 138 yards (126.18m) or 414 feet – set in Cape Town.  Ian had professional baseball trials as a pitcher with six Major League Teams in 1987. Clocking speeds around 100 mph, he attracted interest from the Philadelphia Phillies.  He is the only modern professional cricketer to play in a professional baseball match.

A certified international cricket coach, Ian worked with Essex in United Kingdom for 3 years as the club's bowling coach.  He was also Assistant Head Coach to The Netherlands, helping take the Dutch to the 2007 ICC World Cup in the West Indies.  Ian is currently the Head Coach to the International Cricket Camp, Potchefstroom, South Africa, which features world-class coaches like Corrie Van Zyl, Gary Kirsten, Graeme Pollock and Jimmy Cook.

Ian is a major proponent of using advanced biomechanics and quantitative analysis in cricket training.   Dale Steyn, the South African fast bowler who bowls over 90 MPH, recently said, "Ian is the first and only coach to ever focus on speed and accuracy."

Talking about the camp, Kranthi Bayya, CEO of DreamCricket.com said: "In 2009, USA has shown the world that it has a lot of talented cricketers.  At DreamCricket, it is our endeavor to bring world-class coaching opportunities to America's aspiring cricketers.  We are grateful to Dish Network for their support of our camp.  It really helps us make the camp affordable and we hope Bay Area cricketers will take advantage of what we have put together."

"The advantages in training with a world-class coach are not only in learning advanced skills but also in the opportunities that lie ahead", Ms. Bayya said, adding that Ian Pont is always on the lookout for new talent as he conducts his camps.   DreamCricket Academy players Rushi Amin and Nomi Iftikar were spotted by Ian from Summer Camp 2008 and were offered a chance to play in cricket in England.  Another DreamCricket Academy youngster Cameron Mirza has received a Gray Nicolls equipment sponsorship, and has played overseas under the careful guidance of his mentor Ian Pont.
