California Cricket: CCA celebrates completion of ninth year with awards ceremony

CCA cricketers established themselves as key players in the respective clubs in the adult league and were featured among the Top 10 players of the clubs for their respective roles winning 15 Man of Match Awards and 5 MVP awards.

California Cricket Academy completed its ninth year with a grand annual award function attended by 200 people.  Keypoint Credit union CEO Brad Canfield and SVP Helen Grays Jones were the guests of honor at the event.  The event was attended by Council Member Kansen Chu of San Jose, Cupertino Vice Mayor Orrin Mahoney, U-13 tournament sponsor Zain Jeewanjee of g1g insurance, Mahesh Nihalani of Cupertino chamber of Commerce and Madan Ahluwalia of Ahluwalia Law Firm.  

Canfield announced Keypoint's  "Platinum Sponsorship" for CCA's 10th year and presented the Keypoint cup.  Councilman Chu promised to work with CCA to develop cricketing infrastructure in San Jose.   Keypoint's ongoing sponsorship has helped CCA in organizing road trips, purchasing team uniforms and conducting special team events.   

CCA thanked its volunteers and coaches and recognized its league partners including Sunnyvale Cricket Club and Spartans Cricket club for accommodating more than twenty CCA players during 2012.  Satsheel Altekar, Raj Badadare, Rutvij Bhise and Rajesh Bhatt put together an entertaining awards presentation that captivated the young audience for more than an hour. 

During the year, CCA organized a cricket festival, was invited to participate in a diversity initiative by Mayor of Cupertino, coached kids at Fusion School, conducted a workshop for PE teachers at Hyde Elementary and organized an ICC Umpiring Class.

CCA cricketers established themselves as key players in the respective clubs in the adult league and were featured among the Top 10 players of the clubs for their respective roles winning 15 Man of Match Awards and 5 MVP awards.   The boys scored over 3500 runs and took over 120 wickets and 85 catches this summer.   One CCA student, Karteek Kankanala played club cricket in England turning out for Ardleigh Green and Hatfield Peverel clubs.
