THE GARDEN STATE CRICKET LEAGUE OF (GSCL) of New Jersey held the Annual General Meeting on 2/8/2009 at Club Eclipse of Fabien Place in Newark NJ.
The election for news officers for 2009 season began at around 4.55pm Rohan Jones was elected as the President of the League; Jones was vice- president for last year season, however, when the president Shelton Glasgow took up the position as the representative of the Atlantic Region to USACA.
Upon being elected as President, Mr. Jones promised to take this league to the next level and emphasized the need for growth and development. He also stressed the need for sponsorship and getting the youths involved since the future of cricket depends on them.
Also elected were Colin Edwards - Vice President, who urged the teams to work as one unit by putting their indifference behind them and work collectively to promote cricket. Trevor Barrow was reelected the General Secretary. Amol Sahasrabudhe, who was on the B.O.D. last year is the new Assistant Secretary. Leroy Peters is the Treasurer for 2009. Mr. Peters pledged to continue to serve and upkeep this league as one of the premier leagues not only in NJ but throughout the entire U.S.A.
Ivy Mahabir was named the Public Relations Officer. Ivy is also the 1st and only female cricket umpire in NJ, who is also in the process of forming the 1st women's cricket team in NJ with the kind assistance of Mr. Dhiren Shah. Ivy is also a contributor for Local Talk newspaper.
Colin Williams, Esar Budhu and Dr. Leon Copeland were named to the Board of Directors.
