On June 10, 2012, Minnesota Cricket Association (MCA) witnessed the transformation of immense potential into breathtaking performance, as Pavan Kumar Chakravarthy smashed 170 off only 118 balls and walked into the league's record books.

The best part of this innings was that it was against a strong Lions CC team that included Pavan’s Central East regional teammate Saminda Sriwardena amongst others.

Pavan, although struggling with a back ache, kept up the tempo from the start of the innings, taking a special liking to the extra pace of the Lions opening attack.

Driving, cutting and pulling the ball to all parts of the ground, Pavan built a 62 run opening partnership with Rehan Saeed and then a 189 run second wicket partnership with team captain Fawad Raza (83 runs) that took the game away from the opposition, as Strykers ended with an imposing 306.

Pavan’s swashbuckling innings was laced with eleven boundaries and ten massive sixes.  Too bad the game was shortened to only 36 overs, or a score of 200 could have been a real possibility.

Cricket is weaved into Pavan's DNA - his father played for his university team in India and his mother has always been an avid supporter of his passion.

Pavan’s all time favorite cricketer is Adam Glichrist and one massive six off his pads over square leg boundary had Gilchrist written all over it. Cricket lovers in USA can expect a lot more from this 26 year old in the years to come.
