The 2nd Annual Diversity Cup 2007, an Inter Community Cricket Tournament was played at Bloomer Park, Rochester Hills (Michigan) on August 18 & 19.

The 2nd Annual Diversity Cup 2007, an Inter Community Cricket Tournament was played at Bloomer Park, Rochester Hills (Michigan) on August 18 & 19.

A total of six teams participated: Canada Maple Leaf, India Blues, Pakistan Greens, Sri Lanka Lions, USA Stars & West Indies Masters. Teams consisted of National, First class & premier league players coming from different states of USA.

Sri Lanka Lions & USA Stars qualified for the final from groups A & B respectively.

Sri Lanka Lions captain Asela won the toss & elected to bat. Openers Asela Jeyasinghe & Trevin Bastiampillai provided a solid foundation of 110 runs. Asela scored a delightful 68 runs with the help of 4 boundaries & 2 sixes before being bowled out by Mubarak Patel.

Trevin, Manjula & Sanjeyan scored 22, 27 & 19 runs respectively. Sri Lanka Lions scored 161 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

USA Stars scored 141 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Shahid Ahmed & Shyam Mayasandra scored 40 & 28 runs respectively. Udesh & Asela got 3 & 2 wickets for 27 runs each.

Sri Lanka Lions won the 2nd Annual Diversity Cup by 20 runs. Sri Lanka Lions captain Asela Jeyasinghe was declared Man of the Match of the final for his all round performance. Asif Iqbal, former captain of Pakistan and guest of honor presented the Diversity Cup to the Sri Lanka Lions Captain Asela Jeyasinghe. A cash prize of $2000.00 was also announced by Shahid Tahir, one of the sponsors of Diversity Cup.

Gaurav Dhar of India Blues was declared MVP of Diversity Cup 2007.

Global Sports Inc., organizer of Diversity Cup is pleased to announce that next year's Diversity Cup will be played in Michigan on June 21 & 22, 2008. Global sports may consider organizing Diversity Cup in other states of USA down the road.
